The “Posse” is formed as I am joined by any number of skilled film & video craftspeople to complete a project. These independent professionals are spread across the U.S., poised to spring into action at your request. Videographers, cinematographers, directors, gaffers editors, producers, writers & graphic designers. Tim Scotten / Work History

'88-'90 / I was introduced to video production at Video Data Services of Whitefish, Montana. VDSMT specialized in creative programming and documentation. Until 2006, VDSMT was owned & operated by my older brother Matthew P. Scotten, RIP.

'90-'93 / I served as an all-purpose producer for Continental Productions, a firm run by a Montana-based broadcasting company with several stations at it’s core. Writing, directing, photography, graphic generation & video editing were job requirements. I survived this hi-tech form of indentured servitude thanks to the patience, tolerance & guidance of a diverse group of craftspeople with exquisite skills to share. Watching the people I worked with there, I gained a solid understanding of the field, from project conception to product delivery. Thanks folks, you know who you are.

‘93 / I left Montana to join online editing staff at North By Northwest startup in Boise.

'94 / Moved to Portland where I entered the free-lance pool as an online editor & graphic artist in the greater NW marketplace. A long-awaited chance to learn the "Avid NLE" system was realized, and an instantaneous and total devotion to non-linear editing occurred and I began to focus on that discipline along with the further development of motion-graphic skills. Since then I have continued learning from the talented people I meet and work with in this vibrant place. I have been very lucky in that regard.

Most of my work is as an Avid editor in larger markets. I have helped to sell a lot of soap, shoes & microchips. I also have a lot of experience cutting weekly sporting shows for national broadcast. My editing systems support uncompressed High-Def and Standard-Def input & output for finishing and mastering.

I design & create 2-D & 3-D motion graphics for clients using the
Adobe® Professional software suite.
